Carlos Eduardo Américo

Graduate Research Assistant

I am a Ph.D. candidate in Aerospace Engineering working on fluid-thermal interactions for phase-change of atmospheric ice particles subjected to hypersonic post-shock conditions, using particle-based methods such as Lattice Boltzmann and DSMC.

In the past, I have explored turbulence modeling for compressible turbulent flow in rocket nozzles, applying and developing computational techniques for rocket propulsion and aerodynamics. I also participated in research activities during my internship at the Brazilian Institute of Aeronautics and Space (IAE), and I was a teacher assistant for Fortran and Differential and Integral Calculus. Additionally, I organized and participated in national rocketry competitions.

My research interests also extend to computational and numerical modeling in CFD, hypersonic aerothermodynamics, and rocket propulsion.
